Cardiogenic Shock Due to Severe Multi-Vessel Disease

Dr. Alexander Truesdell, Interventional Cardiologist from Inova Heart & Vascular Institute, presents a case of cardiogenic shock, involving a 69 year old patient with severe multi-vessel disease and co-morbidities, EF between 10 and 15% and a severely depressed cardiac index. Prior to proceeding with PCI, the Impella CP was implanted to provide hemodynamic support. Once the heart team achieved revascularization, the patient’s cardiac index improved to 3.4, the Impella was explanted after 48 hours, and the patient’s EF improved to 35%.
