Identifying the Need for a Protected PCI Program

December 22, 2017

John Mulder, PA-C, discusses the Protected PCI Program at Spectrum Health which includes patient identification strategies and the use of a defined algorithm. Spectrum Health analyzed patients that had a diagnosis of other forms of angina and ischemic cardiomyopathy. This query produced approximately 50 pages of patients. After further review, the team at Spectrum refined the search with a defined age range. Of the first ten patients, one proceeded with Protected PCI and three other patients required a different intervention. Currently, the team is doing both in-reach and outreach to help patients who may need care.
