Complex PCI Involving Prior CABG and Comorbidities

September 5, 2018

Dr. Perwaiz Meraj of Northwell Health System joins Dr. George Vetrovec to discuss a complex coronary intervention of a 77 year old woman with stage 4 CKD, prior CABG, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, who presented with angina and NSTEMI with an ejection fraction of 40%. The team at Northwell consulted with cardiac surgeons and the heart team, and determined that this patient was too high risk for another bypass surgery. Instead, the team proceeded with a Protected PCI procedure with hemodynamic support from the Impella CP heart pump. “In our experience, you cannot perform this PCI safely without hemodynamic support,” said Dr. Meraj. Tune in to learn more about this complex case.
